The site caimontilattari.it is born from the collaboration between the CAI sections of Cava dei Tirreni and Castellammare di Stabia and the Amalfi Quality Tourist Consortium, with the aim of offering an online update to the New Map of the CAI Trail of the Lattari Mountains.
The Lattari Mountains are the mountain range of the Amalfi Coast, Sorrento Peninsula and Capri Island. A world-renowned area for being the first Italian Marinara Republic, from 839 to 1135 AD, and having given birth to the inventor of the compass, Amalfi Flavio Gioia.
And it is precisely in the glorious history of the Ducato of Amalfi that the birth of the hiking trails, consisting of about 530 km of paths, mostly stairs, needed to connect the Ducato towns and to the fortified cities built on its High peaks, reaching 1444 mt.
It is a pathway network consisting of a Highway 70 (70 foot long), which runs through the whole peninsula from Cava dei Tirreni to Punta Campanella and further 124 paths.
This site and the New Paper are designed to make the entire territory of the Lattari Mountains safe and accessible, providing users with a lot of free downloadable material, such as gpx tracks, descriptions of paths and paper excerpts.
The Charter is available online or at authorized stores.
The site is open to user interaction, which will enrich it with new content using the social resources it has.
A solid thanks goes to CAI volunteers for their commitment to work in two years and to the companies of the Consorzio Amalfi di Qualità, who have never failed to support their project of such a large breath.
